FLIR Systems of Wilsonville, Ore. had been awarded a $49,476,870 firm-fixed price contract for their FLIR STAR SAFIRE III sensors. Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 31, 2008.The Star Safire III has long range sensor optics for day/night surveillance, and precise gyro-stabilization to counter the motion effects on tall towers. It is currently in use with the Army Rapid Assessment and Initial Detection (RAID) program.
